After a 30 year career as an engineer, I am now a bodyworker and a somatic sex educator. That is a pretty broad umbrella, but basically I am trained to help folks understand and embody pleasure in their bodies. My part of that is to provide a safe container for the client to discover and ask for what they want. This is done by giving instruction and providing practice in using voice and choice in all interactions – physical and otherwise. This is particularly important for those with a trauma history, and who may have had boundary violations in the past. I have particular passion and experience in working with folks with a trauma history, who may identify as genderqueer, and who may identify as neurodivergent.
Part of the reason I’m drawn to this kind of work is that it has been helpful for me in my life. As a genderqueer transwoman, I had to learn how my body worked. Neurodivergence is common in my family, so I’ve had to learn ways to communicate when the words don’t always come easily. As someone who feels different in lots of ways, I recognize that everyone is an individual, and has their own path. My passion is to work with the client to co-create a safe container where they can explore how their body and mind can create arousal and pleasure. And if I don’t have the skills or background for a specific individual I am happy to refer to someone else who does.
